[photopress:Image4_product.jpg,full,alignleft]Just outside of Yellowstone National Park, the wolves have been killing the local ranchers’ calves. But when a rancher ends up dead trying to fend off the wolves, it becomes clear that the wolves’ attacks aren’t random – someone is releasing the wolves directly into the herds of cattle. Follow detective Matthew Prescott as he tries to solve the mystery and stop the killings in Clair M. Poulson’s latest mystery, Don’t Cry Wolf.
When an elderly rancher ends up dead while trying to protect his cattle, detective Matthew Prescott is assigned to figure out who killed him, and more importantly, who is so defensive of the wolves that they’re ready to kill anyone that gets in their way… This isn’t just an isolated incident. Calves have disappearing all over the area, and the clues all lead to an extreme environmental group that’s trying to protect the wolves’ interests in Yellowstone National Park.
A sudden twist in the plot reveals that it may not be all about the wolves. There are inheritances to be gained, and an unsavory family member out to get whatever he can with whoever he can use. Can Detective Prescott stop the environmental activists before anyone else gets killed?
I really enjoyed Don’t Cry Wolf. It’s always refreshing to see a mystery take place in an unusual setting with unusual characters. The plot is never dull, and it’s hard to detect where it’s all going to end up. I would definitely recommend this book to LDS fiction lovers ages 12 and up.
